YEAH!!!! I am back creating for
How wonderful and fun is that??? This past year has been so full of uncertainty and stress that my creating in any form really took a beating. And my health only added to that. But now it's 2018 and things are starting to look up. I am slowly getting ahold of how to handle and live with my health issues and I am determined to get back to creating daily. Creating is something that has always brought happiness and resolve to my life and I know that it will be something that will improve my daily life. Although in the coming months I still have some serious challenges to get through I know that the end is near, and I truly believe that 2018 will be an amazing year!!!!
So let's get back to this challenge........water colours.
Over the past year scrapbooking has become so much more than paper, adhesive and embellishments. Although I have not done a huge amount of scrapbooking this past year I have spent a lot of time with mixed media, and playing with all different kinds of paints and mediums.
Water colours have certainly become one of my favourites to incorporate into my scrapbooking. Playing with swirling colours and creating my own backgrounds is totally addictive. I am by no means an expert LOL!!! Far from it in fact. But water colours are easily found at craft stores and many scrapbook stores these days. They are inexpensive and because of that fun to just play with.
GESSO is the one thing that I have learned that is very important to use while scrapbooking. It is like a primer for your paper. Gesso comes in white, clear and black. And can be applied using any paint brush or even something like a gift card is you want a heavier coverage. My favourite type to use is a spray gesso like the one pictured below.
It goes on very smoothly and lightly. Once dry you are ready to use your water colours. And just have fun. After choosing the colours for my layout and getting them on my paper I thought it looked like a total mess LOL!!!!! That actually happens often. But don't give up or think you need to throw it away. Once you start putting your layout together things fall into place.
This is my final layout. And it turned out to be one of my favourites!!!
...and here are a few close ups!!!
This was a really fun layout to create. I have been working on this Disney Album for my daughter Kelsie's family for a few months. And it has been a bit difficult for me since the colours are not ones I usually work with. But I am getting there.
Using a cut file for the title from Silhouette Cameo really pulled this layout together fast. The 3 little Mickey heads are also cut files. Once you back everything with patterned papers, it is just a matter of adding a few embellishments! Easy peasy!!!!
